One of Berlin’s most delightful, creative and quirky events returns to take over the city with weird and wonderful characters. Billed as “a festival of contemporary character culture”, the five-day extravaganza consists of a packed schedule of lectures, workshops, exhibitions and parties, as well as a three-day conference at the heart of the occasion, all offering the chance to talk to and learn from leading artists in the field of character creation and animation. There’s also numerous Character Walks offering tours through the myriad exhibitions and installations, and a Character Lab where attendees are encouraged to turn off their computers and get their hands dirty with diverse activities like drawing and bookmaking, sewing costumes, silk-screen and wood printing, and toy sculpting.
