Frequently Asked Questions of Be My Guest

Below are answers to questions we are often asked and so will hopefully be helpful to you. As always, please ask if you have a different question. Contact us using the form by clicking here.

How do I know that your website is safe and secure for my credit card?
We use a first class encrypted Secure Socket Layer (SSL) system to protect you when entering your card details. All payment information (credit or debit card details) are not stored by us and instead are only sent to our payment provider, Paypal. Paypal are leaders on online payment security and have the highest level of PCI compliance for your protection so you can be sure it’s safe. Be My Guest also participates in the Trustwave PCI compliance to maintain secure data protection practices.

When will I know the address of the apartment?
Once the booking is confirmed, the full contact details of the holiday accommodation will be sent to you including the address and telephone and email of the host.

When do I get the key?
Once your booking is confirmed you will receive the address and contact of the apartment. When you arrive at the accommodation the host will greet you and give you the key. Remember to confirm your arrival time with the host so they can be there when you arrive.

Is it centrally heated?
All accommodation is centrally heated.

Are bed linen and towels included?

Can I ask a question to the host before I book?
Yes. Simply use the form at the base of each accommodation page or search page and send us your questions. We will answer your question straight away or pass the question on to the guest house or apartment owner and get back to you with the answer.

How long in advance should I book the accommodation?
The short answer is as long as possible in advance as our accommodation is very much in demand, particularly during the high season. If you book early, you will be sure to find what you are looking for.

When will the money be taken from my account?
Only after we have confirmed that the accommodation period is definitely available will we take the payment. If the accommodation is not available no money is taken.

Will I have to pay a security/key deposit on arrival?
Some hosts require a security/key deposit that is held by them for any damages that may occur during your stay. This is given to the host upon arrival and returned to you when you depart. Any damage deposit amount required will be shown under the total price when you book.  

What if I need to cancel or change my booking?
In the event that you wish to cancel or change a booking, please write an email to us as quickly as possible. Refer to our terms and conditions for our cancellation policy.

What time can I check in and check out?
Check in is normally after 14:00 and check-out is 11:00. This can vary a little so please check the listing you are booking. An early or late check in is usually possible and is at the discretion of the host who may charge a fee.   

Does the accommodation have baby equipment such as a cot/crib or high chair?
Many do have these facilities. Please check the individual accommodation listings for details. You can search for these using the ‘Amenities’ section to the left side of the search results page.

What is a cot?
A cot is the same as a crib or a baby-bed.

Is there a cleaning charge?
Any cleaning charge is included in the ‘Total Price’ on this website.

What about these City/Tourist Taxes in Berlin & Amsterdam?
In Berlin and Amsterdam there is a tax on the price of the overnight stay (not cleaning). This money goes to the respective city governments. Prices on Be-My-Guest normally include the tax unless otherwise stated on individual listings, so please check. The Amsterdam tax is 5.5% and the Berlin tax is 5% and only applies to tourists staying less than 21 nights and excludes business travellers. Business travellers need to fill out a form to exclude them from the tax. If you're not sure feel free to ask us.
