This area information guide to where to stay in Amsterdam covering Oost and Havens Oost, also known as the Waterfront should help you choose which area you prefer.
This east area of Amsterdam may not be widely known to many but is home to the city’s most attractive and underused park – Oosterpark, the zoo and botanical gardens, and a few decent bars tucked away on leafy side streets.
The Waterfront is the part of Amsterdam that has changed most over the last decade. New, modern residential areas have sprung up on reclaimed land and become very popular with young, upwardly mobile Amsterdammers. It is a up and coming area so is an exciting and interesting place to be. The more interesting and convenient bits spread from Westerdok, in the west, to Havens-Oost. Both have a smattering of breezy terraces, and easy access by bike into town.
